Last night, the Delta Township Board of Trustees voted 6-0* to introduce a comprehensive non-discrimination ordinance. The Board of Trustees first discussed the ordinance in May. The Board has carefully considered the issues presented by their constituents and have asked questions.
The Delta Township Board of Trustees usually moves very efficiently through their agenda and last night was no exception.
Trustee Jeff Hicks moved to introduce the ordinance. Trustee Fedewa and Supervisor Fletcher quickly moved to support this ordinance. The Board then voted with to move the ordinance forward.
What’s next? Clerk Mary Clark will publish the ordinance in local area newspapers and on the Delta Township website. Two weeks from now, on Monday, October 7, the Delta Township Board will hold a public hearing and will likely vote to pass and enact the ordinance.
Tonight, the Delhi Township Board of Trustees will be following a very similar agenda: the Board’s first consideration of a comprehensive non-discrimination ordinance is on the agenda for the 7:30 p.m. meeting.
*Treasurer Howard Pizzo was not present for last night’s meeting but has previously stated that he fully supports this ordinance.
